I think you will wish to see this account of the work undertaken by Dr. Selwyn Clarke Director of Medical Services in Hong Kong during the occupation of the Colony. It has been compiled by Mr. F.D. Angus, the accountant in the medical department who became a general assistant to Dr. Selwyn Clarke after the fall of the Colony. This report confirms what we had already believed that the whole of the community of the Colony and internees in Stanley Camp in particu, owe a very great debt to Dr. Selwyn Clarke. But for his untiring activities and his persistance in solfting necessary requirements from the Japanese authorities, the incidence of death and disease would almost certainly have been higher.
I have had a copy of the report re istered on Dr. Selwyn Clarke's personal file and I have also sent a copy to Sir John Shuckbrugh in case it is of interest to him in connection with his History of the War.
Perhaps Dr. Rae would very kindly say whether it should be seen by any other department.

On the direction or the Colonial Secretary, Selgedlake has now submitted his own account or the work undertaken by himsel. unu his associutes Juring the period of the Japanese Occupation. It is a factual und impersonal statement but even so the epic nature of the story comes through. It is almost incredible that one man could have achieved so much. We shoulu, however, be gruterul tht there is also the account written by . Angus (2) which auus details th t Dr. Selwyn-Clarke has not thought
